Trading for over 40 years

David shares bakery industry trade secrets

David Cakes has been trading for over 40 years.
With in-depth retail bakery and cake business experience, David shares his knowledge to first time cake decorators and professionals alike, offering 100% support and guidance to all students.

Designed to nurture personal development of free-hand piping while increasing self confidence and creativity, David will take you on an exciting creative journey into the world of free-hand cake decorating.

During a 1-1 live online training session, David will first demonstrate and then encourage you to participate hands-on, as you enjoy learning how to cake decorate using centuries-old free-hand techniques.

Some students want to start at the very beginning from addressing consistencies of their favourite creative medium, whether it’s Royal icing, buttercream or chocolate spread to name a few, to learning basic coating techniques and how to decorate simple piping on everyday cakes such as cupcakes, gateaux and desserts, while other students want to take their creative life-skill learning to the next level embracing new challenges.

Over-piping, cake painting, suspended string work, letter piping, run-out /flood in are some of the most popular free-hand cake decorating techniques that students request to learn.

As with all of David Cakes 1-to-1 online training programs, David encourages you to cake decorate using your preferred medium whenever possible, be it Royal icing, buttercream, fresh cream, chocolate spread, etc  and also savoury mediums such as peanut butter, cream cheese and even mashed potato – it’s up to you!

During each class, David also embraces the science of cake decorating as well as offering business advice and sharing his own learning experiences from running his retail cake shop for 30 years.

For students who run their own cake decorating businesses, David offers comprehensive training focusing on how to increase turnover and profit, optimising your personal performance and time management, as well as dealing with all technical issues: including understanding Royal icing and how extremes of climate temperature and humidity can affect your cake decorating and how to resolve such issues.

1-to-1 live-streaming will take place via Zoom. Meeting ID passwords enabling you to enter your online training session will be emailed to you in advance.

For the best live-streaming experience we strongly recommend that you will need access to ideally a large screen device such as a desktop computer or a laptop.

You will also require a high quality portable webcam which will allow you to talk with David, as well as share your creative progress. Using a portable webcam will also allow you to receive David’s creative guidance and personal support during your entire 1-to-1 live-streaming free-hand cake decorating training experience.

David will be teaching live online via state of the art technology equipment using superfast broadband connecting with you in 1080p high definition display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, delivering sharp clean images to the internet.

In order to deliver you the best high definition picture and sound quality online experience, all 1-to-1 live-streaming video meetings will be monitored by our technical team.

In order for you to receive the best online training visual experience we strongly recommend you use a reliable service provider who offers a fast / superfast fibre broadband.

If your broadband is slow, the live-streaming will be affected and may pixilate or freeze, which would create frustration impairing your online training experience.

If you are planning to use a wireless internet network connection we strongly recommend that the wi-fi signal is strong, delivering a constant live-streaming broadband connection.

If your desktop/laptop device is connected direct to the internet via an ethernet connection (the optional yellow cable that can be connected from a router directly to a device) your internet signal will be even stronger than using wireless alone.

Should for any reason the internet connection goes offline, the class / course will resume either later on the same day or on another day to suit.

The student attending David Cakes Online 1-to-1 international masterclass is 18 years or over.

The student will be attending 1-to-1 live-streaming online masterclass alone, unless other arrangements have been discussed and approved prior to booking, such as having a translator present.

If a student wishes to have their friend / fellow cake decorator attend 1-to-1 live-streaming online masterclass, the additional student attending must also make payment for training, so payment at the checkout is made for two students attending, rather than just one.
Please discuss your details with David prior to making your booking.

Once your 1-to-1 live-streaming online masterclass date and commencing time / duration of training has been confirmed, to secure your training dates, the training fee must be paid in full.
